Eligibility for Library & Science
For taking up a course in library science one must be at least a graduate. After this one may go for a one year course in bachelor of library science. Salaries vary according to the qualification, experience, type, size and the institution hiring the librarian. Scale of Government of India is higher than those of the University Grants Commission. In terms of grades- Assistant Librarians are of equal position to lecturers; Deputy Librarians to Readers; and the Librarian's position is equivalent to that of a Professor's. Average annual earning of librarians is around Rs 100000 - 150000.
