JAMSHEDPUR: XLRI-Jamshedpur has set up its first ever entrepreneurship cell (E-cell) to encourage budding student entrepreneurs. The initiative of XLRI's entrepreneurship development centre (EDC) will help in building the ecosystem needed for any new venture.
The cell was inaugurated by professor Prabal K Sen, chairperson, of EDC on July 22. Sen said, "Our objective in launching the E-Cell is to foster a breed of entrepreneurs who are equipped with conceptual and operational skills required for running an entrepreneurial venture successfully."
The E-Cell will develop business ideas for students who are eager to become entrepreneurs but are unsure about the way forward. Besides that, the initiative will help both budding and would-be entrepreneurs with activity ideas, practical guidance, bank linkages, conducting research activities, training entrepreneurs, identifying opportunities and pursuing them.
Sen also mentioned that steps are needed to be taken to promote entrepreneurship in Jharkhand. It will help for better utilisation of resources and in making the state self-sufficient, he added.
The cell will have an advisory committee with faculty members, alumni members, business heads and government officials to look, plan and implement the activities that would initially include funding, bank linkages and incubation.
The E-cell will host activities like conducting national level B-plan contest, conferences and seminars on entrepreneurship, student participation in existing start-ups to having an incubation centre for start-ups.
