The University of Milan (Università degli Studi di Milano) or the UNIMI is one of Italy's largest universities. It was founded on September 30, 1923 after the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of Milan Academia merged with Istituti Clinici di Perfezionamento. In June 1998, a smaller campus was established in Bicocca and was named the University of Milan Bicocca.
More than 62,000 students register in the University of Milan every year. Around 5,000 individuals make up its teaching, research, and non-teaching staff. The university is an active member of the League of European Research Universities.
